"Rhode Island Timing" is about the way some people arrive exactly when they're supposed to, from exactly where you weren't looking.
She's a visitor from a colder place, down here watching the Gulf meet her feet, and the song never promises she stays. That's the part I'm proudest of — it doesn't need her to stay to matter. Funny how strangers start feelin' like signs.
I made it track one on the album on purpose. Every story in those ten songs starts because somebody showed up with no map and no plan, right on time.
