Behind the Song
The Glovebox Full of Proof
July 25, 2026
"Receipts" started with an actual glovebox.
I was digging for a tire gauge and came up with a handful of paper instead — a gas station coffee ring on a Waffle House check, a parking pass from a lake day, a twenty that had been riding shotgun since July. Nothing worth framing. Everything worth keeping.
That's the whole song, really: you can't frame a summer, but you sure can save the receipts. We spend so much effort trying to photograph the big moments that we forget the proof of a good stretch of life is mostly junk paper with a story stuck to it.
It became the spine of the new album, too — but that's a note for another day.
