Behind the Song

The Fireworks Song

July 27, 2026

"Boom Pop Sizzle" is the biggest song I've put out so far, and it's basically about holding somebody's hand while the sky explodes.

I wrote it for the Fourth of July — red sparks over the Gulf, that half-second where the whole crowd inhales together before the boom lands. But the trick of the song, the thing I was chasing, is that the fireworks are never really the show. Best dang show I'll ever see isn't about the sky at all.

It's the loudest, brightest thing in my catalog and it still ends on a kiss. That's about right, I think.
